Personal Resource Audit

First hand experience would be  vital to getting employed in the film industry, also and in-depth of knowledge of the ins and outs of production, this is why I would want do a production course at university as it would give me both of these.

I have access to the adobe creative suite which is important and it is a widely used set of software which I will likely be using throughout out my career. The skills and techniques involved in using the adobe suite are transferable to other industry used prices of software which means that even if I do use different software in the future I will still carry of any skills I had on adobe.

Resource Plan
The best resources for me are my access the adobe creative cloud as it is industry level software which means skills I learn using these programs I will be able to apply and use in work. Having a good understanding of how these programs work also helps with practical skill on a set as knowing how things work in post can help with setting up on a set to minimise the need and time spent in post production.

I will find new resources by working on as many projects as possible in my time at college and university and try and network with the students who I could continue to work with in the future. The lectures and course leaders at UCA university have good ties to the local production companies and I would talks to them to try and find opportunities for me to work with theses companies.

I will make the best use of my resources by taking all the skills and techniques I have learnt in college so far and using applying them to the projects I will undertake at university so that I can further them.

If I go to university as I plan to I will check what programs and equipment is available to me as a student as ensure I try using them to understand how they work and the different skills involved. I hope to try my hand with multiple different programs and equipment during my time at college so that I can learn as many skills and techniques which I could later use if my life.

SWOT Resources

Strengths: I have access to the full adobe suit so I can learn skills and techniques on programs that are used professionally. I also have access to a cannon 600D camera and cheep tripod allowing me to record and edit my own projects as I please.

Weaknesses: Have limited access to equipment, to film I have to borrow from the college which can limit when and where I can film. My lack of professional experience and ties to local production companies is a current weakness but going to university would help in both cases as I will be working on much more professional projects and will hopefully have the opportunity too connect and work with companies in the film industry. I have transport limitations as I currency do not have a drivers licences so I rely on being able to source a lift or using public transportation which limits my availability. I aim to have a drivers licence before I start at university.

Opportunities:  I am planning to go to university and do a film production course, at university I will have more time devoted to practising and gain experience making films. I will also be with many student who are also practising and creating films so there will be more opportunities to work on films.

Threats: Jobs in the film industry are very competitive and there are lots of students who will be looking for experience. There are lots of editing programs and they are changing all the time so I will have to continually keep up to date and practise editing to keep  up.

My most useful resources will be my access to equipment and the the connections I will be able to create while on a course in university.
